TasteCasting was invited back to try some of The Olive Tree’s new menu items as well as celebrate their TasteCasting award for Best Ethnic Restaurant.
Dan Harris presented the Best Ethnic Restaurant award to Tina Mor of The Olive Tree.
We were first treated to a new Appetizer. Hummus Ful is a homemade hummus topped with warm fava beans seasoned with olive oil, cumin, garlic and lemon. A nutritious and delicious combination!
They brought another Appetizer for us to try. Spanikopita or spinach pie is spinach and a blend of feta, asiago and parmesan cheese wraped in layers of FILO dough and baked to a golden brown.
We next tasted a couple new Greek Traditionals. Pastitsio is layers of pasta, ground beef and cream sauce baked and topped with marinara sauce and Parmesan cheese. Yummy! The Moussak is layers of eggplant, zucchini, potatoe, ground beef and béchamel cream sauce baked and toped with marinara sauce and Parmesan cheese.
We were given the oportunity to experience the Olive Tree Shawarma. Either beef or chicken is sliced and seasoned with Middle Eastern spices and grilled with onions, green pepers and tomatoes and layered over homemade hummus. It is served with warm pita bread.
Our dinner was toped off with their new Rice Pudding served warm.
Many thanks to The Olive Tree for a wonderfully delishous dinner.
The Olive Tree is highly recommended. Very deserving of their award.
