Contempoary Eligance

Private Dining at M

Private Dining at M

You can’t help but notice the building towering in the air at 2 Miranova Pl in Columbus as you drive up the cobble stone drive. On the oval at the end of the drive you are meet by the valet. You can just sense this is a class place. You enter through large Glass doors into a marble lobby. M is just ahead through another large glass door. Upon entering you are amaised by the contempoary eligance of this fine restaurant. It is the best of function and design. The makeup of the space lends to a gentle flow from entrance to seating. The dining room lends itself to both private and public dining. You notice the view of the patio just outside. The large private dining room accomadates up to 15 and there are other spaces for small intimate dining. M has been reconizised as having the most romantic table in the city. M is an elite Four Diamond property, as designated by AAA. M is one of only three restaurants in Columbus and 756 Nationwide to receive the prestigious rating. Kristen Luff, the general manger at M, has livened up the restaurant’s environment. M’s associates are wearing new uniforms, and music and video behind the bar has been updated.

Executive Chef Erin Chittum’s New Menu

The food at M is awesome. They have a new Execultive Chef who has brought new menu items to M. Erin Chittum, an allumi of Columbus State Community College, joined the Camron Mitchell family as an apprentice at M in 2002 and returned to M in May of 2009 as Executive Chef. In her seven years of culinary experience with Camron Mitchell, she also has worked at Mitchell’s Ocean Club and Marcella’s. You can see a video of Erin’s talk to our group here.

Wasabi Sushi

Wasabi Sushi

We started off with a sushi dish. I not being one to seek out sushi, was not sure what to expect from the Wasabi Tuna, Salmon, Avocado, Cucumber and Wasabi peas. I found I like sushi and enjoyed the wraps. The wraps were served with a soy sauce and I learned that the wasbi peas were to be mixed with the sauce. The wasabi peas are very hot by themselves.
Next up was from the appetizer menu a Tartare of Hawaiian Big Island Tuna, Pickled Cucumber, Yuzu Vinaigrette, Wasabi Tobiko, and White Miso Aioli. The finely choped tuna seasoned just right was a good start to the entrees to come.
We were able to sample another of the appetizers M offers. The Maryland Blue Crabcake was very tasty. Served with Hass Avocado and Plum Tomato Gazpacho, this could be an entrée.
From the salad menu we were offered the Green a Organic Little Gem Lettuce with chunks of Roquefort Cheese and a creamy bleu cheese dressing with candied pistachios.

White Tuna

White Tuna

We tried two of M’s entrees. The White Tuna was my favorite. It is a large wedge of white tuna porcini dusted served with spring peas, wild mushrooms and a lobster emulsion. This piece of fish was cooked to perfection and the lobster emulsion was a nice added flavor.
M’s Steak – N – Eggs was served next. This Filet Mignon sat atop goat cheese hashbrowns with a dippy egg crowning the top. It is served with caviar and a sauce bearnaise. This is definitly a meat lovers delight. Breakfast for a dinner entrée. I like that.
Along with the two entrees we were treated to M’s own Tater Tots,Truffle Mac – N – Cheese, Chophouse Corn and lobster mashed potatoes with large pieces of Maine lobster. It was a toss up for me. The Mac – N – Cheese and Chophouse Corn were equally delicious. The Lobster Mashed Potatoes was outstanding.
We finished our meal with a Chilled Apricot Moscato Soup with fresh berries and organic yogurt sorbet. A very nice end to a eligant dining experience.
